Concluding remarks

The ‘church’ is Jesus’ chosen instrument to spread the good news of salvation that is freely available to those who believe in Him and become His disciples.  Therefore, if it is to fulfil this mandate, it is vital that it is functioning ‘optimally’ – as He would want it to be.  This paper has identified teaching and practices emphasised first by Jesus, and subsequently in the early church, which were deemed not only important, but vital to achieving that goal.

By using this paper as a ‘checklist’ of what was revealed as both ‘foundational’ and ‘highly important,’ leaders will be able to identify areas that any particular church needs to focus on and strengthen.

Suggestions that have been included to facilitate such are not exhaustive and are meant to work alongside existing church practices where possible.  Consequently they are open to further discussion and expansion.

As you seek to honor the Lord and fulfil His vision for His body, the Church, may He continue to give you His wisdom, clear guidance, blessings and favour in all that you are doing for His Kingdom.
